EXCLUSIVE: Labour’s celebrity guest conference speaker revealed

A drum roll please as we reveal the identify of the guest speaker at this year's Labour conference.

A drum roll please as we reveal the identify of the guest speaker at this year’s Labour conference – it’s Canadian author and activist Naomi Klein, whose critique of 20th century capitalism in her first book ‘No Logo’ turned her into a left-wing thinker and pundit with global appeal.

The list of previous star speakers at conference is long and star-studded. It includes Nelson Mandela, Gerhard Schröder, Bill Clinton, Hamid Karzai, Bill Clinton (again) and, more recently, the now-controversial Aung San Suu Kyi (via video link). Klein will be appearing in person to share her thoughts on how to defeat the Trump Presidency and the political philosophy it champions.

But there are those who wonder if Klein has the clout of previous guests, while others moan that she has a new anti-Trump book to plug called ‘No is Not Enough’.

The good news is that if you miss her at Labour conference you can catch her again in Brighton – she’s also speaking at the Momentum conference down the road.
